Te whiwhinga mahi - The Opportunity
We’re looking for a Kahu Taurima Navigator to join our South Auckland team. This role offers a unique opportunity to walk alongside maamaa, peepi and their whaanau, providing non-clinical, wraparound support in their homes and over the phone.
You’ll help whaanau navigate services across health, education, social and wellbeing sectors — complementing care plans already in place with LMCs, GPs and others involved in whaanau care. Your mahi will support whaanau throughout their journey, including those transitioning out of Ngaa Hau care (6 weeks postnatal and beyond).
Ngaa puukenga me ngaa wheako – What you’ll bring
We’re looking for someone with a heart for people, strong community connections, and the ability to navigate complex systems.
Ideally, you will have:
- Experience in social work, community support, whaanau navigation, or similar mahi
- A tertiary qualification in a relevant field (desirable), with at least one year of experience post-study
- A good understanding of how to work across health and social agencies
- A commitment to whaanau-centred approaches, grounded in Te Ao Maaori and Kaupapa Maaori values
- Confidence in engaging with people from diverse cultures and backgrounds
- Strong skills in communication, planning, and working as part of a team
- A full NZ Driver Licence and a clean criminal record
- The ability to speak Te Reo Maaori is an advantage
