Southern Cross Care QLD have an opportunity for a Maintenance Officer to join our SCCQ family at St. Anne's Residential Aged Care Home in Broken Hill, New South Wales.

About the role

In this important role, of a Maintenance Officer, you will work as part of the team to ensure the general maintenance work around the home and grounds is carried out in alignment with a scheduled program. This role will also see you coordinate contractors when required and ensure all machinery and equipment is maintained in optimal operational condition. A friendly sociable personality coupled with empathy and compassion for the elderly will make you a perfect fit for this role. 

Duties of the role may include:

• Assistance to site with general maintenance duties.
• Ensuring communal areas are tidy and maintained in support of resident activities.
• Assessing and prioritising daily work order requests and managing timely completion of each order.
• Horticultural and grounds development, maintenance and monitoring
• Preventative maintenance of home and grounds.
• Contractor management.
• Other maintenance/gardening duties as required

What will you bring to the role?

• Maintenance and/or Trade qualification (desirable)
• Previous experience and knowledge in general and commercial maintenance
• Previous experience managing contractor relationships is highly desirable
• Demonstrated ability to work from manuals and drawings
• Demonstrated problem solving and a “can do” attitude
• Exceptional people and interpersonal skills
• Well-developed written and verbal communication skills
• Strong decision-making and time management skills
• Ability to work as part of a team but also be capable of working autonomously
