Shipping & Demand Planner

About the Role
The Shipping & Demand Planner plays a pivotal role in managing and optimising Clipper UK's end-to-end supply chain operations. This position combines analytical forecasting expertise with strong coordination across sales, marketing, finance, retail partners, and logistics teams to ensure products are available when and where they're needed — efficiently and cost-effectively.
The successful candidate will be responsible for forecasting demand, aligning inventory and supply strategies, and overseeing outbound shipping operations to achieve business objectives and deliver exceptional customer satisfaction.
 
Key Responsibilities
 
Demand Planning

• Own and manage all forecasting activities for assigned customers and product lines.
• Evaluate and challenge sales forecasts provided by third-party partners to ensure accuracy and business alignment.
• Develop and refine statistical demand models using historical trends and syndicated data (e.g., IRI).
• Integrate business intelligence and insights from sales, marketing, finance, and retail replenishment teams.
• Lead monthly forecasting reviews to drive alignment across departments.
• Monitor forecast accuracy and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance planning performance.

Shipping & Logistics Coordination

• Oversee outbound shipment schedules and manage carrier relationships to ensure timely and cost-effective deliveries.
• Align shipping activities with demand plans to minimise delays and maintain service standards.
• Ensure compliance with all global shipping documentation, customs, and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate closely with warehouse operations and freight providers to resolve issues and optimise transportation performance.

Inventory & Supply Alignment

• Translate demand forecasts into actionable inventory and replenishment strategies.
• Support product launches and manage inventory transitions during product phase-outs.
• Identify and mitigate risks related to stock imbalances, including slow-moving or obsolete products.
• Analyse replenishment and shipping data to support procurement and logistics decision-making.
• Act as the first point of contact for the warehouse team, supervising KPIs in collaboration with the Finance Manager.

Skills & Competencies
 
Technical Expertise

• Advanced proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, data modelling).
• Experience using ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or similar.
• Skilled in demand forecasting and analytical tools.

Analytical & Strategic Skills

• Strong data interpretation, trend analysis, and statistical modelling abilities.
• Ability to translate complex data into clear business insights.
• Strategic thinker capable of balancing operational detail with long-term supply chain goals.

Communication & Collaboration

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proven ability to partner cross-functionally across finance, operations, sales, and marketing.

Organisation & Problem Solving

• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Strong attention to detail and proactive problem-solving mindset.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Logistics, or related discipline.
• Minimum 3 years' experience in demand planning, logistics, or supply chain coordination.
• Solid understanding of global shipping practices, documentation, and carrier management.

What We Offer

• Salary: £40,000 - £48,000 per annum (depending on experience).
• Hours: Monday to Thursday, 8:30am - 5:30pm | Friday, 8:30am - 2:30pm.
• Holidays: 25 days annual leave (plus bank holidays).
