We are now looking to appoint a Lighting Category Manager – Retail to join the Lighting Division. This role is ideally suited to a bright graduate looking to launch their career in product management and gain comprehensive, hands-on experience within one of the UK’s leading electrical brands.
 
Role Overview
As a Lighting Category Manager – Retail, you will play an active role in shaping the future of our retail lighting offer. Working closely with the Senior Product & Sourcing Manager, and across various departments, you’ll be exposed to the full product lifecycle—from market research to launch, sales support, and performance tracking.
This is a developmental role offering exposure to commercial strategy, product design, marketing, and supply chain operations, both locally and internationally.
 
Key Responsibilities
 
Market Research & Trend Analysis

• Assist in gathering and analysing competitor activity, pricing strategies, and consumer behaviour.
• Contribute to strategic planning through market and product trend insights.

Product Development & Category Management

• Support the development and launch of new lighting products.
• Assist in reviewing and refining current retail product ranges to ensure competitiveness.

Marketing & Sales Support

• Collaborate with marketing on promotional campaigns tailored to the retail sector.
• Provide materials and insights that support the sales team and drive customer engagement.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Work across the brands to align product categories and support strategic initiatives.
• Liaise with departments including product development, marketing, sales, and overseas suppliers.

Sales Analysis & Reporting

• Monitor product and category sales performance using relevant data.
• Prepare reports and provide actionable recommendations on pricing, range strategy, and positioning.

Person Specification
 
Education & Qualifications

• A degree in Business, Product Design, Engineering, or a related discipline.

Skills & Attributes

• Enthusiastic and proactive with a strong desire to learn and grow.
• Analytical and detail-oriented, with sound Excel skills.
• Customer-focused with a natural curiosity about products and their end-user applications.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Comfortable working collaboratively across departments and engaging with stakeholders at all levels.

Other Requirements

• A full UK driving licence (essential for occasional visits to retail customers).
