JOB TITLE:                            Retail Business Development Manager

JOB BRIEF:
 
An ambitious and energetic Business Development Manager to help us expand our clientele. You will be the front of the company and will have the dedication to create and apply an effective sales strategy.
 
The goal is to drive sustainable financial growth through boosting sales and forging strong relationships with new clients in the Retail sector. In particular, retail organisations that are proving resilient through the trend towards online, such as supermarkets, and online retailers themselves.
 
EXPERIENCE:
 

• A track record in selling into the Retail sector and managing large accounts in these sectors.
• Evidence of leading large tender bids successfully in the sectors.
• Evidence of leading and account managing large, multi-site project rollouts.
• A demonstrable understanding of the sectors, including:
  • Price
  • Competition and their strategy
  • Product specification
  • The key consultants and contractors
  • Trends
  • Green initiatives that may apply to energy saving projects. e.g. Grants, loans

• The ability to use lighting design software such as Dialux and Relux, and evidence of their use in the sectors.
• The ability to develop business cases and detailed Return on Investment documentation.
• The ability to accurately survey large premises in the sectors.
• The ability to set and achieve high level aims and objectives in order to develop and improve the business.
• The capability and credibility to create and manage relationships at a senior level.
• The ability to generate new leads and cold call prospective customers.
• Ability to utilise full life costing elements to differentiate our approach.
• Capability to provide appropriate feedback from the market to include competitor developments, commercial trends, technology developments and personnel movements.
• Accurate forecasting and understanding of project timescales.
• Organised and accurate usage of CLM, ensuring activities and action plans are documented and completed on CLM.
• Demonstrate ability to be organised and reliable.  Meeting minutes with relevant actions to be formalised and followed up in a timely fashion.

• Ability to work under pressure in a multi task, highly pressurized environment.

• Develop and implement relationships to increase the Company’s sales into Retail.
• Develop and implement initiatives to increase the Company’s sales into Retail.
• Be the sector expert for the business, identifying the most effective route to market.
• Account and project manage large, multi-site project rollouts.
• Complete and submit tender responses.
• Understand the businesses' products or services in the sectors and be able to advise others about them
• Liaise with Design & Development to provide the outline brief for new product ranges/special designs for the sectors.
• Work with the Marketing department to create marketing initiatives to support your objectives.
• Engage in direct marketing to create meetings e.g. cold calls/emails.
• Consider and make recommendations for your aspects of the web site and catalogue design.
• Attend relevant trade shows, exhibitions, marketing forums, and trade association meetings and to actively promote the company at industry events where required.
• Provide a monthly report detailing activities and initiatives taken, monitor turnover for market sectors.
• Suggest improvements to business processes, and the company’s approach to the sectors.
• Check order acknowledgement meets customer expectations and any variances are communicated in a proactive timely fashion.
• Accept and entertain customers.
• Conduct seminars and CPDs.
• Prepare case studies.
