Electrical Design Engineer - Mansfield, Nottinghamshire
Head Office based with site visits when required.
General Description Supporting the business in the areas of electrical design, technical support and application engineering. With opportunity to grow with the business in new areas
Primary Responsibilities
- Produce electrical and mechanical drawings for new product designs
- Product testing. This will also include bespoke & modified products, conducting evaluations and ensuring the safety & suitability of the proposal
- Programming & designing of control systems, this will involve stand alone and wireless systems, ensuring hardware & software are working correctly along with investigating new possibilities for introduction to the business
- Commission projects that require more technical aspects such as controls and bespoke designs
- Keeping up to date product technical files and sending products for testing where required and liaising with external test laboratories
· Product improvements – assess possible improvements in both performance and installation of products and log an accurate timeline of actions for past, present and future planed updates.
· Work on complex projects and manage them to completion. This may involve site visits and meetings with the internal & external teams.
- Provide day-to-day technical support to both the internal and external sales teams
- Electrical testing & analysis of products, both new and existing to ensure safety.
- Creation of operation & installation instructions, so that our customers use products correctly
- Support the business in other areas that require technical input
Additional Responsibilities:
- To undertake any necessary training for your development
- Be prepared to assist other departments as and when requested
- Carry out any other duties requested of you
- Be prepared to work extra hours if required
Knowledge:
Excellent practical and theory knowledge in electrical installation and electrical components
Product design, relating to the electrical, mechanical & optical performance of a luminaire
Standards relating to CE & BS for luminaire construction and application
Skill Requirement: Good team work skills
Computer literate with good language skills to produce reports to a high standard
experience with control systems
Practical Electrical and Mechanical skills
Experience with assessing & resolving on site installation issues
Experience of luminaire construction and engineering principles, electrical and electronic compliance and test requirements, lighting product application and customised lighting solutions. Experience of working with third party suppliers would be an advantage.

Education Requirements:
Relevant Engineering related qualifications and electrical and mechanical experience
