About the team
The Construction, Infrastructure and Projects (CI&P) group undertake work relating to all aspects of construction, infrastructure and projects for both private and public sector clients, supporting clients through the entire project lifecycle to manage risk and deliver great outcomes. In this role you will provide support to a team of Lawyers, Senior Associates and Partners. In particular, you will be supporting highly regarded Partner Kirsty Smith who specialises in the resolution of disputes and also manages front-end matters.
About the role
This is a part time position working 3 days per week, Wednesday to Friday (job share arrangement). This role will suit career legal assistants however we will consider law students, with legal administration experience, provided they are early in their studies and not due to graduate within the next 18 months – 2 years.
Day to day your key responsibilities will include:
- Drafting routine correspondence and documentation including the use of precedents, style guides and firm standards
- Managing emails, diaries and voicemail for the team
- Collating briefs to Counsel, Affidavits and Exhibits
- Preparing contracts with multiple annexures
- Court document filing
- Managing billing process and preparing draft invoices
- Assisting with client account management including managing fee estimates and handling billing queries from clients
- Coordinating and managing monthly reports
- Assisting with processing of expenses claims
- Copying typing (including dictation occasionally), formatting and general word processing
- Opening and closing files (including archiving)
- ASIC and PPSR searches
- Production of presentations and assisting in the organisation of seminars and events
- Coordinating and assisting with compilation of Adjudication Applications and Responses and attending to service of documents
About you You will have prior experience providing senior level support as a legal assistant or within a legal support role. The successful candidate will be a self-starter, with a team based, client first approach and a genuine interest in construction.
Discretion and the ability to professionally manage confidential and sensitive material is critical. Therefore, you will have prior experience acting as a gate keeper, with exceptional organisational and communication skills.
To be successful in this role you will also have:
- Experience in billing and managing high volume court documentation
- Fast and accurate typing skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft office
- Excellent attention to detail
- Enjoy working in a team-based environment with a commitment to contributing to positive team morale and engagement
- A can-do attitude with plenty of initiative
Knowledge of Work10 and Aderant will be highly regarded however not essential as training will be provided. This is an excellent opportunity to work under a supportive leader and grow their existing skills within a group of specialist partners, lawyers and collegiate colleagues.
