About the team
Our Sydney Dispute Resolution & Litigation team deals with a vast range of disputes for clients across various industry sectors, including government, property, media and technology. These clients include national and international clients, listed companies, SMEs, government departments, private companies and individuals.
About the role
We are seeking an experienced and motived legal assistant who is interested in building a career with Holding Redlich, particularly within our Dispute Resolution & Litigation practice (DR&L). The successful candidate will work alongside a team of lawyers, including senior practitioners. Day to day responsibilities may also include the following:
Duties
- Manage billing process in accordance with firm timetable and prepare pre-bills
- File maintenance - electronic and paper (FileSite)
- Diary management
- Digital dictation as required
Document production
- Assisting in the preparation of correspondence and complex legal documents (where appropriate through use of our firm precedents) whilst ensuring these documents conform with our firm style guide
- Arranging transmission of large files
- Editing documents using track changes and managing version control
- Collating briefs to counsel
- Collating affidavits and exhibits (electronically)
- Other general administration tasks as required
Systems
- Microsoft suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
- Document Management System (FileSite)
- Time recording/Billing (Aderant)
- CompareDocs
- E-brief
- Reporting for clients as required
About you You will have demonstrated legal support experience, especially in billing, ideally from a disputes practice. You will be a strong team player, genuinely invested in supporting your peers and lawyers to achieve the best possible results for clients. Given this is an administration role, we are not considering law students
in the late stages of their degrees for this position. The team are eager to invest in developing a candidate who wishes to have a long-term career in legal support roles.
You will possess excellent capability in Word as well as Adobe Acrobat and will be familiar with the use of precedents and house style formatting. Whilst experience in both FileSite and Aderant would be highly beneficial, any experience in other DMS and billing software will be valuable.
You will be a self-starter with exceptional communication skills and a keen eye for detail. In addition, you will have the capacity to manage multiple priorities, enjoy a busy work environment and contribute to a positive and collaborative work culture.
