About the role
As a Senior HR Advisor with us, you will provide high-level HR advice and support to people managers across the Ministry. You’ll work closely with the Director, People & Capability to deliver strategic HR initiatives, including organization development, talent management, and cultural programs. This is a dynamic and impactful role where you’ll have the opportunity to lead HR projects and drive continuous improvement in people management practices that align with the Ministry's objectives.
The salary range for this role is $ 93,812 to $ 140,718. Starting salary will be based on the knowledge, skills, and experience the successful candidate brings to the role.

- Proven expertise in providing strategic HR advice on all aspects of people management, including employment relations, conflict resolution, and performance management.
- Experience in delivering HR projects and initiatives, with a focus on continuous improvement and alignment to strategic goals.
- Strong understanding of NZ employment law and a track record of managing complex HR issues, including disciplinary actions and performance appraisals.
- Experience in coaching and mentoring people managers, helping to develop their leadership and people management capabilities.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with senior stakeholders and provide clear, confident advice at all levels.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving and HR process optimization, with the ability to implement changes that improve efficiency and effectiveness.
- Experience working in the public sector, with a strong understanding of its unique HR needs and challenges.
- Tertiary qualification in Human Resources, Management, or a related field.
