About the role:
This role supports the day-to-day delivery of ministerial servicing and nominations work at the Ministry for Pacific Peoples. You will help triage and coordinate requests, track deadlines, gather input from teams across the Ministry, and support the preparation of timely, accurate responses and advice.
The work includes leading the coordination and drafting of Official Information Act requests, Parliamentary Questions, ministerial correspondence, briefings, and nominations and appointments processes. You will be part of a team that helps the Ministry meet its obligations to Ministers, Parliament, and the public.
About you:
We are looking for someone who is organised, careful with detail, and comfortable working to deadlines. This is a good opportunity for someone who wants to build their public sector experience and learn how ministerial and parliamentary processes work in practice.
You will bring:
- Strong coordination and administration skills, including the ability to track actions, manage deadlines and keep accurate records.
- Clear written communication skills, with good judgement and attention to detail.
- The ability to build constructive working relationships and follow up with people in a professional way.
- Sound judgement, discretion, and the ability to handle sensitive information carefully.
- An interest in public service, ministerial servicing, and supporting Pacific communities.
- Some understanding of government processes would be useful, but significant machinery-of-government experience is not expected for this role.
You do not need to be an expert in ministerial servicing before you apply. We are interested in people who are reliable, thoughtful, willing to learn, and able to bring care and accuracy to important work.
Why join us? At the Ministry for Pacific Peoples, you will contribute to work that supports better outcomes for Pacific peoples in Aotearoa New Zealand. You will join a supportive team that works across the Ministry and with senior leaders, while building practical experience in ministerial servicing, nominations and public sector accountability processes. We offer a family-friendly workplace, health insurance and opportunities to learn and develop.
