Senior Analyst, Policy
About the role
The Senior Analyst, Policy delivers high-quality, evidence-based policy advice that improves outcomes for Pacific peoples in Aotearoa. You will lead significant policy work within the Ministry’s programme — shaping strategic advice, engaging with Ministers’ offices, Pacific communities, and government agencies, and ensuring advice reflects Pacific perspectives and lived experiences. This role has direct influence on Ministerial decision-making, Budget processes, and long-term investment in Pacific wellbeing.
The salary range for this role is $93,812 to $140,718 (midpoint $117,265). Starting salary will be based on the knowledge, skills, and experience the successful candidate brings to the role.

- Proven expertise in policy advice development — including problem definition, option development, impact assessment and clear, concise recommendations.
- Exceptional written communication — with experience drafting high-quality Ministerial briefings, PQ responses, aide-memoire and OIA material.
- Confidence operating within the machinery of government, including engaging with Ministers’ offices, Parliamentary processes and cross-agency partners.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills — able to interpret complex information, manage risk and provide sound advice under time pressure.
- Stakeholder and relationship management skills — able to work effectively across government and Pacific communities, ensuring advice is practical, plain-language and culturally grounded.
