Senior Analyst, Languages
About the role
The Senior Analyst, Languages plays a critical role in supporting the revitalisation and long-term sustainability of Pacific languages in Aotearoa. You will lead and contribute to strategic policy and implementation work that advances the Ministry’s Pacific Languages work programme — working closely with Pacific communities, leaders and government agencies to uplift language, culture, identity and wellbeing. This role has meaningful reach and influence — informing government investment, community partnership models, and the future of Pacific language preservation in Aotearoa.
The salary range for this role is $93,812 to $140,718 (midpoint $117,265). Starting salary will be based on the knowledge, skills, and experience the successful candidate brings to the role.

- Ideally three years’ experience in policy or strategic advisory work, preferably within Pacific or language revitalisation contexts.
- Confidence operating within the machinery of government, including engaging with Ministers’ offices and cross-agency stakeholders.
- Ability to build strong relationships with Pacific communities, leaders, and organisations, grounded in respect for Pacific values and cultural protocols.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills — able to interpret insights, identify opportunities, and shape practical advice and solutions.
- Knowledge of, or strong commitment to, Pacific languages and identity, and a passion for their preservation and long-term sustainability.
