About the role
The Principal Advisor, Operations provides business operations support and expertise to the Commissioning & Partnerships directorate. They support the Director, Operations and wider team to complete business and administrative tasks to ensure the work programmes of the directorate are delivered on time.
The salary range for this role is $110,376 – 165,564 (midpoint 137,970). Starting salary will be based on knowledge, skills and experience the successful candidate brings to the role.
- Full time fixed-term or Secondment position until Christmas 2025.
- Wellington based

- Strong relationship management skills – You'll be working closely with staff across the Ministry in Performance, Finance, Procurement, Data & Insights, and the CE Office as well as directly with front facing staff in our regional offices.
- Project management approach – you'll be delivering from day one and managing multiple pieces of work with tight deadlines. Your methodical approach coupled with excellent communication skills will be necessary to keep everyone informed and deadlines met.
- Proven contract writing skills – you will have strong professional writing skills, some understanding of legal documentation, and an eye for detail. You’ll be writing memos for the CE’s approval, reports for providers and making sure that legal documents have captured information correctly.
- Resilience, ability to juggle and prioritise, and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Familiarity with budgets, Appropriations, departmental and non-departmental funding.
