Water Technology is a nationally-recognised engineering and environmental consultancy specialising in water management, with offices in WA, SA, NT, VIC, NSW, QLD and NZ. Our Groundwater team have expertise across areas such as groundwater modelling with uncertainty analysis, application of environmental tracer techniques, surface water-groundwater interactions and remote area resources assessment. We currently have an opportunity for a new team member to be based in the Northern Territory (Darwin or Alice Springs). We are open to applicants from around Australia, but you must locate to the Northern Territory. We will provide support for the right candidate.
Who we’re looking for We’re looking for an Environmental Scientist with an interest in groundwater and water environments who enjoys a mix of fieldwork, data analysis and technical reporting. You might already have some groundwater experience, or you may come from a broader environmental background and be keen to build your skills in this area. You don’t need to have done all the below, if you see yourself in parts of this, we’d love to hear from you.
Groundwater & environmental science - Exposure to groundwater monitoring, aquifer testing, or drilling programs
- An understanding of how groundwater and surface water systems interact
- Experience with groundwater resource assessments or modelling
- Interest in hydrogeological assessments and conceptual modelling
- Background in aquatic chemistry, ecology, or broader environmental science
- Experience with regulatory approvals and compliance
Fieldwork & practical investigations - Enjoy working in the field, including remote locations
- Experience with environmental sampling, monitoring programs, or site investigations
Data, GIS & analysis - Confidence working with environmental data sets and spreadsheets
- Some experience with GIS or spatial data
- Ability to interpret data and draw practical conclusions
Reporting & communication - Clear technical writing skills
- Ability to contribute to reports and communicate findings to clients and colleagues
Project & teamwork skills - Organised and able to manage your time across multiple tasks
- Comfortable working as part of a multi-disciplinary team
- Interested in developing project management and client skills over time
- Experience assisting with proposals or project planning
