We’re looking for a Senior Ecologist to join our Waterways & Ecology team in NSW. You'll lead and deliver high-quality assessments, and collaborate on climate, waterway, and environmental resilience projects across NSW.
Water Technology’s Waterways & Ecology team comprises 20 engineers and scientists across NSW, VIC, QLD, and WA, dedicated to delivering integrated ecological and waterway management solutions. Our team's expertise spans riparian and terrestrial ecology, waterway rehabilitation, geomorphic investigations, biodiversity assessments, and environmental impact evaluations. The team provides holistic insights into river systems, catchments, and coastal environments, offering practical, science-based recommendations for sustainable environmental outcomes.
Across Australia there are over 160 Water Techers based in offices around WA, NT, SA, VIC, QLD, NSW and NZ. We are celebrating our 25th anniversary this year with a national 3-day companywide get together in Geelong.
What you’ll do:
- Lead riparian and terrestrial fieldwork—identify species, populations, and vegetation communities
- Prepare ecological assessments, biodiversity reports, and impact studies in line with NSW and Commonwealth legislation
- Manage projects from field to final report
- Guide junior ecologists and share your expertise
- Develop proposals and build strong client relationships
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams across Water Technology
What you bring: - Degree-qualified in ecology or environmental science
- Strong botanical ID skills and NSW vegetation community knowledge
- Solid understanding of environmental legislation and BAM
- Project delivery and stakeholder engagement experience
- BAM or bushfire planning accreditation (essential)
- Current Australian driver’s license
