Early Career at Water Technology
We are always on the lookout for early career talent to develop into water loving professionals. Whether you are in your penultimate, final year or you graduated within the last 5 years we are open for discussion for future opportunities across Australia. Our intakes will depend on business requirements. By joining this community, you will be notified when opportunities become available in your State.
In 2025 there will be regular workshops, events, activities and competitions throughout the year to support your job hunting and career building efforts. These are free and our way of supporting you even if you don't work with us.
We also have our internal early careers peer support group, YETS (Young Emerging Techers Society) to help our interns and graduates navigate the early stages of their career, internal networking and professional development.
Areas of Studies and Expertise we Look For
We are interested in those who are studying or have graduated from the following bachelors degree or similar in an environmental, water, coastal, marine or sustainability streams:
- B. Engineering (civil) - with a focus on water or coastal related project
- B. Engineering (environmental) or similar
- B. Science (environmental/biology/ecology) or similar
- B. Environmental Science or similar
- B. Marine Science or similar
- B. Geospatial Science or similar
- B. Planning (urban/town/regional/environmental) or similar
We are also open to those who are completing their Masters or PhD in any of these areas. Some other things we look for are:
- Intern or industry project experience is an advantage
- Some industry professional experience looking for the next career step
- Exposure to on the job tools such as GIS, ArcGIS, TUFLOW, RORB, MUSIC, MIKE
- Excellent written communication due to the technical writing component of our work
- Excellent verbal communication
- The desire to work in environmental and/or water related fields
For full-time employment we prefer that candidates already have unrestricted work rights in Australia and NZ, however, if you are on temporary visas, we can still talk and look at options if this is the career path you are aspiring towards.

Workshop invitations are sent via Job Adder our applicant tracking system and via any student groups you are part of if they are one of the groups we sponsor.
Our members are the first to be notified of opportunities and how to apply for them. Some opportunities we advertise directly, but we also partner with your university for specific placement programs. If you are unsure whether your course partners with us, speak to your course advisor or industry partnership representatives.
Our Talent Acquisition Specialist review everyone's resume and allocates you to a specific discipline's talent pool. Profiles are regularly discussed with leaders within the disciplines.
