Female Independent Domestic Violence Advisor (IDVA)
(qualified and unqualified applicants welcome)
Hours: Part Time 3 days Per Week
Contract: FTC – March 2026 (scope for extension)
Salary: £28598 per annum pro rata (unqualified)
Location: North Somerset
Hourly Salary: Unqualified: £15.71 per hour (£17.61 incl. holiday pay) or £20.33 umbrella

Day to Day Duties:
- Provide one-to-one support to women experiencing domestic abuse.
- Although some hybrid working allowed, you must be reactive to emergency cases
- Deliver professional advocacy and advice.
- Contribute to creating safe and empowering environments for survivors.
- In conjunction with the service user/family complete the Oasis needs assessment and draw up a support plan together with the survivor.
- Ensure your work with service users is recovery focused, and strengths based, supporting survivors in a creative, consistent and assertive way to ensure positive outcomes are achieved.
- Review the support plan regularly and record changes agreed.
- Ensure that survivors currently living in abusive situations are aware of their rights and options.
- Give safety-planning advice and explain the effectiveness of criminal and civil sanctions available to them.
- Enable and encourage families to take advantage of all services relevant to their safety such as legal advice, housing and benefits rights, education, medical treatment, counselling etc.
- Assist clients in gaining access to solicitors, benefits agencies, housing departments, education, medical treatment, counselling etc.
Preferred Requirements: - Demonstrable experience working with survivors of domestic abuse.
- Strong understanding of safeguarding and risk assessment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team.
- Empathetic and non-judgmental approach to supporting individuals.
Preferred Qualifications: - Recognized qualification in Domestic Violence advocacy/support
- Any relevant Social Work, Psychology, or Counselling qualifications
- Valid driving license and access to own transport
