Pacific People Solutions are very pleased to partner with our valued client, Portland Aluminium, to source a Metals (Production) Manager for their aluminium smelting facility based on site in Portland, Victoria.
  
Portland Aluminium Smelter has been operating since 1986, producing 320,000 tonnes of aluminium per year and is the largest employer in the region, with approximately 540 employees. Portland Aluminium is committed to continuously improving their environmental performance by reducing environmental impacts and developing more sustainable operating practices.

This is an exceptional opportunity to be part of community-based site leadership team  and to work closely with their Joint Venture Participants. The ideal candidate will be a strong communicator and strategic visionary  who is capable of resolving customer issues, managing large complex teams whilst being accountable for the safe, efficient and cost-effective operations of the  Metals Manufacturing Business Unit. The operations included in the Metals Manufacturing Business Unit are the Potrooms (Electrolytic Smelting Operation), Potlining (Electrolytic cell relining & replacement), Ingot Casting & Plant compressed air generation facilities and the Switchyard which provides power distribution to all areas of the 320.000 tonne capacity plant.
  
The Metals (Production) Manager  will be tasked to continually review production targets, operating performance and financial expenditure as well as deploying the strategic safety plan, the annual operating plan and the budget.  
  
As the  Metals (Production) Manager, you will directly manage a team of six (6) and report directly to the Plant Manager. This role will be based on site in Portland, Victoria.

• Tertiary Qualifications in Process, Chemical or Metallurgical Engineering with extensive experience in leading a large, blue-collar workforce
• Significant experience in a manufacturing operations environment (mining, resources, manufacturing).
• Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills with the capability to build strong relationships with Joint Venture Participants to ensure alignment in plant & marketplace objectives.
• Ability to guide, influence and facilitate open communication forums

Portland Aluminium  is located in the picturesque coastal town of Portland in regional Victoria with great education and health services available in the local area. A full relocation package will be offered to the successful candidate.
