PPS Consulting are very pleased to partner with our valued client, Alpha HPA, to source a Contracts Administrator for their Stage Two Project, based on site in Gladstone.
The Alpha HPA First Project Stage Two is an integral part of the company’s vision to successfully commercialise the ultra-high purity aluminium product range that will support the global decarbonisation transition.
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Contracts Administrator to join our project team in a full-time, site-based role.
This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded professional who enjoys working in a dynamic engineering or construction environment and contributing to the successful delivery of a major project.
About the Role
Reporting to the Contract Manager (who is based in Brisbane) and working closely with the broader project team, you will play a key role in the post-award administration and commercial management of downstream contracts.
This position requires strong attention to detail, sound contractual knowledge, and the ability to communicate confidently with contractors, suppliers and internal stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer downstream contracts, including management of variations, payment schedules, invoicing and related approvals.
- Maintain accurate contractual records and registers, including site instructions, delays, variations and extensions of time.
- In collaboration with the Contract Manager, respond to contractor notices and claims (variations, delays, disruptions etc.), interpreting contractual provisions and compiling supporting documentation.
- Monitor and support cost forecasting for allocated contracts, escalating commercial impacts as required.
- Ensure suppliers and contractors comply with the terms and conditions of engagement.
- Participate in progress and commercial meetings with project teams, contractors and suppliers, recording key actions and outcomes.
- Identify commercial risks and areas of concern, assisting with mitigation strategies and reporting obligations.
- Contribute to project schedule reviews and monitor the commercial impact of changes.
- Prepare recommendations and obtain approvals in line with established procedures and delegations of authority.
- Support the project team with documentation, RFI management and reporting activities.
About You To be successful in this role, you will bring a combination of technical knowledge, commercial awareness and strong interpersonal skills, along with:
- Minimum 5 years’ proven experience in contract administration or a similar role, with a focus on post-award management within an engineering or construction management environment.
- A strong understanding of contract law, including Security of Payment legislation, and its practical application in business.
- In-depth knowledge of contracting, procurement processes and project management practices
- Excellent negotiation, communication and stakeholder management skills
- Tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Commerce/Business, Law, Quantity Surveying or Construction Management are highly regarded (or equivalent industry experience)
About Alpha HPA Alpha HPA Production Facility is the application of the company’s licensed Smart SX technology to produce a range of high purity aluminium products, most notably their Ultra High Purity Alumina, Ultra High Purity Precursors and Ultra Boehmite.
These products will provide the raw materials used by leading decarbonisation growth industries including LED lighting and lithium-ion batteries for electric vehicles.
