Pacific People Solutions are pleased to partner with our valued client, Alpha HPA, to source a Process Safety Engineer for their rapidly growing plant in Gladstone, Qld. 

Alpha HPA is an ASX-listed speciality metals and materials company. You will be working as part of a low environmental impact sustainable business, committed to supporting decarbonisation technologies with their innovative refining process. 

As the Process Safety Engineer, you will lead the implementation of safety systems during the Operations Readiness phase of a major project. This is a key role for someone with strong MHF experience and a proven track record in operational safety.

What You’ll Do:

• Lead the roll-out of safety management systems, including Permit to Work and Management of Change, on a greenfield site.
• Develop, review, or significantly update the MHF Safety Case.
• Provide technical leadership to embed a strong safety culture and ensure operational readiness.
• Collaborate with teams and stakeholders to deliver safe, compliant, and efficient start-up operations.

What You’ll Bring:

• 5+ years’ experience in a Process Safety role, ideally with prior Process/Production engineering experience.
• Hands-on experience on an MHF site.
• Tertiary qualifications in chemical, process, or materials engineering, or equivalent safety/environment qualification.
• Experience in process hazard studies and implementing/managing safety systems.
• Strong ability to work autonomously and in teams, with excellent stakeholder influence skills.
• Self-motivated, highly pro-active, and resilient.
• Experience in start-up of large-scale chemical or hydrometallurgical facilities preferred but not essential.

About Alpha HPA 
Alpha HPA Production Facility is the application of the company’s licensed Smart SX technology to produce a range of high purity aluminium products, most notably their Ultra High Purity Alumina, Ultra High Purity Precursors and Ultra Boehmite. 

These products will provide the raw materials used by leading decarbonisation growth industries including LED lighting and lithium-ion batteries for electric vehicles.
