JOB Title: Procurement Specialist
Location: Dundee, UK (Hybrid: up to 3 days remote)
Role Summary
The Procurement Specialist is responsible for leading procurement activities for materials and services supporting the Dundee site and contributing to global procurement initiatives. The role focuses on strategic sourcing, supplier relationship management, cost optimisation, and supply chain risk mitigation, ensuring procurement activities support operational and commercial objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing key supplier relationships and negotiating commercial agreements to secure cost-effective and reliable supply.
- Delivering cost savings and optimising supplier terms across materials and service categories.
- Supporting and executing global procurement initiatives and tenders as directed.
- Monitoring supplier KPIs and leading regular supplier performance reviews.
- Developing long-term partnerships with critical suppliers, including international vendors.
- Investigating and resolving supplier issues through non-conformance management, root cause analysis, and preventative action.
- Identifying and mitigating supply chain risks for direct materials.
- Establishing and maintaining inventory standards including safety stock levels, lead times, minimum order quantities, and order multiples.
- Collaborating with the Head of Supply Chain to enable automated purchasing systems and improve planning accuracy.
- Delivering procurement cost-saving targets across materials and services.
- Maintaining direct material costs within approved budgets.
- Optimising cash flow through effective inventory policy and supplier payment terms.
- Supporting annual customer pricing reviews through procurement insights and cost analysis. Driving material change controls, CAPAs, and deviation actions within the procurement portfolio.
- Contributing to site strategy and business improvement initiatives.
- Monitoring market and technology trends to identify cost optimisation and supply risk opportunities.
Desirable - Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or a related discipline
- CIPS qualification (or willingness to pursue)
Experience & Skills
Essential - Minimum 3 years procurement experience
- Strong negotiation and supplier relationship management capability
- Experience managing global supplier networks
- Knowledge of GMP and FDA manufacturing regulations
- Strong commercial judgement and analytical decision-making ability
- Ability to engage and influence senior stakeholders internally
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
Desirable - Procurement of APIs, excipients, and packaging materials
- Experience with eSourcing or Source-to-Pay procurement systems
- Category management experience
