We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Financial Accountant to join a growing construction business.

This is a broad finance role covering financial accounting, AP/AR, project accounting, cash flow and management reporting. Working closely with the leadership, project and commercial teams, you will play an important role in maintaining strong financial controls while providing visibility over project and business performance.
The successful candidate will ideally have experience within construction, property development, engineering or another project-based environment.
Key Responsibilities Financial Accounting & Reporting

• Prepare monthly management accounts and financial reports.
• Manage month-end and year-end close processes.
• Maintain the integrity of the general ledger and balance sheet.
• Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations.
• Manage accruals, prepayments, journals and provisions.
• Prepare monthly profit and loss, balance sheet and cash flow reporting.
• Assist with annual budgeting, forecasting and financial planning.
• Monitor actual financial performance against budgets and forecasts.
• Prepare financial analysis and commentary for management.
• Coordinate with external accountants, auditors and tax advisers as required.
• Assist with BAS, GST, FBT and other statutory reporting requirements.
• Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards and internal financial policies.
• Accountant payable and receivable, including invoicing and payment management 

About You To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:

• Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
• CA or CPA qualification, or working towards completion, highly regarded.
• Previous experience as a Financial Accountant, Project Accountant, Management Accountant or similar.
• Hands-on experience across accounts payable and accounts receivable.
• Experience within construction, property, engineering, infrastructure or another project-based industry highly regarded.
• Strong understanding of month-end reporting, balance sheet reconciliations and financial controls.
• Strong Excel skills and confidence working with financial data.
• Strong analytical skills and excellent attention to detail.
• Ability to communicate effectively with finance and non-finance stakeholders.
• A commercial mindset with the ability to identify financial risks and opportunities.
• Ability to be hands-on with day-to-day transactional finance while also contributing to higher-level reporting and analysis.
