About the Opportunity: A new and rare opportunity now presents with the Portolesi Group, who is looking for a highly capable and hands-on QHSE Manager to take ownership of their Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental function in a standalone, high-impact role.
We're looking for someone who will get in, understand how the business operates, and continue to build protocols and systems that align. You will be trusted to take the lead, developing processes, ensuring compliance, and driving continuous improvement across a diverse range of significant and exciting projects.
You'll be equally comfortable writing documentation, leading audits, and being on-site when needed, working closely with teams to embed practical, and effective QHSE practices across the organsiation.
Key Responsibilities: In this key leadership role, you will have a great opportunity to continue to drive a strong culture and engagement across the QHSE space, taking ownership and action in:
Quality & Compliance - Effectively lead and manage all QHSE systems, protocols and records across the group, ensuring compliance
- Develop, implement and maintain Quality Management Plans, policies, procedures, and any associated QA documentation
- Ensure compliance with Australian Standards, ISO frameworks, and legislative requirements
- Lead internal and external audits, including ISO and PCCP certification
- Drive continuous improvement across quality systems and processes
Project & Operational Support - Review project specifications and develop project specific quality systems and documentation
- Support the estimating team during tendering process with methodologies and safety documentation
- Conduct and report on site audits, inspections, and SWMS where necessary
- Develop, review, and manage SWMS across the organisation
- Lead and deliver site inductions and all onboarding requirements
- Plan and facilitate effective toolbox talks and safety briefings, driving a positive safety culture
WHS & Environmental - Oversee WHS systems, compliance, and reporting across the group
- Lead incident investigations, non-conformance, reporting, and corrective actions
- Act as the organisations RTW Coordinator / Injury Management lead, driving correct process, care and compliance
- Chair and contribute to Health & Safety Committee meetings, reporting on and recommending best practices where needed, across the group
- Manage environmental compliance, including EPA reporting and regulatory engagement
- Oversee and lead programs including, drug & alcohol testing, health monitoring, respiratory protection equipment and asset systems (i.e. test & tag)
To be successful in this role you will be: Someone who thrives in a broad, autonomous role and enjoys taking ownership, along with the following:
- Relevant WHS qualifications (Diploma level or equivalent experience)
- Experience in a Senior QHSE role within construction or a related industry (Ideal, however not mandatory)
- Strong working knowledge and understanding of ISO standards, audits, and quality frameworks
- Proven ability to interpret legislation and implement compliant systems, processes and protocols inline with organisational standards
- Experience with managing RTW and injury management processes
- Excellent communication skills both verbally and in writing
- Strong Microsoft Office skills and familiarity with SharePoint/cloud systems
- Strong attention to detail with solid administration capability
- Current driver's licence
