An Australian R&D and manufacturing company developing advanced defence and industrial systems is expanding its production team and is now hiring a CNC Assistant to support the manufacture of precision components as they move into full-scale production.

In this role, you will assist with operating waterjet cutting equipment and support metal bending and forming activities. You will work closely with machinists, engineers, and assembly teams to ensure parts are produced accurately and in line with defence quality standards.

This is a full-time, onsite role based in Adelaide, SA, working an afternoon shift (12:00 PM - 9:00 PM) with shift loading applied on top of base salary.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with the set-up and operation of CNC waterjet cutting machines
• Learn and perform basic metal bending/forming operations under supervision
• Handle and prepare raw materials for cutting and forming
• Follow work instructions, drawings, and production schedules
• Carry out basic measurements and quality checks on finished parts
• Support machinists and engineers in resolving production issues
• Maintain cleanliness, safety, and documentation in accordance with company processes

Requirements

• Previous experience in a workshop or manufacturing environment
• Ability to read and follow technical instructions or drawings
• Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn
• Reliable, safety-conscious, and able to work in a team environment
• Must be an Australian citizen

Desirable (Not Essential)

• Experience operating CNC or fabrication equipment (waterjet, laser, press brake, etc.)
• Exposure to precision or defence manufacturing environments
• Mechanical trade qualification or relevant certificate
