About your new employer
West Technology is partnering with an established organisation that is investing in its enterprise data capabilities, with a strong focus on improving data quality, governance and the way information is managed across the business.
With a growing emphasis on modern data platforms, analytics and enterprise-wide data management, the organisation is looking to strengthen its Data Governance function through the appointment of experienced Data Stewards.
These positions will work closely with Data Engineering, Data Architecture and business stakeholders to improve the quality, consistency and accessibility of data across the organisation.
About your new role
Working as part of an established data function, you will play an important role in improving data governance practices and ensuring information is accurate, reliable and appropriately managed across business systems and the enterprise data platform.
You will work closely with technical and business teams to investigate complex data quality issues, identify root causes and develop practical solutions. This will involve using SQL and Databricks to analyse datasets, assess data ingestion and transformation processes, and establish appropriate data quality controls.
A key part of the position will involve improving how data is defined, documented and managed. You will contribute to data ownership frameworks, business definitions, metadata management and data lineage, leveraging Databricks and Unity Catalog to improve data visibility and governance.
You will also support business and technology initiatives by identifying governance requirements, assessing data risks and ensuring appropriate controls are incorporated into data pipelines and data products.
Working with stakeholders across Data Engineering, Architecture and the wider business, you will apply DAMA-DMBOK principles to help establish consistent data management practices and support ongoing improvements in data quality and governance.
About you
You will bring a strong background in Data Governance, Data Quality or Data Management, ideally gained within a complex enterprise environment. You will be comfortable working across both business and technical teams, with the ability to investigate data problems and translate findings into practical solutions.
You will have strong analytical capabilities and be confident working with modern data platforms, rather than coming from a purely policy or compliance-focused governance background.
To be successful, you will demonstrate:
