This is an opportunity to shape—not simply maintain—the quality and governance framework for the community-based services of a respected, well-established not-for-profit aged care provider.

Working within a supportive and well-resourced organisation, you will help establish and embed the governance structures, systems and practices needed to support high-quality, safe and compliant community aged care and disability services.

There is meaningful foundational work to be done. We are therefore looking for someone who is comfortable assessing what is currently in place, identifying gaps and developing practical frameworks, systems and processes from the ground up. You will need to balance strong technical knowledge with the ability to engage operational teams and bring people with you.

The Opportunity
Reporting to the General Manager, Quality and Compliance, you will lead quality, compliance and continuous improvement activity across the organisation's community-based services.

You will work collaboratively with operational leaders, clinical teams and other stakeholders to strengthen governance, improve audit readiness and embed sustainable systems that align with the strengthened Aged Care Quality Standards and associated legislation.

This is a hands-on position for someone who can move confidently between strategic governance work and detailed implementation. You will have the scope to influence how quality and compliance are understood and applied across the service—not simply monitor adherence.

Key Responsibilities

• Review the existing community-care governance environment and identify priorities, risks and gaps
• Develop and embed fit-for-purpose governance structures, quality systems and compliance frameworks
• Support ongoing compliance with the strengthened Aged Care Quality Standards, Aged Care Act 2024, Aged Care Rules and other relevant requirements
• Develop, review and maintain policies, procedures, registers, tools and compliance documentation
• Lead internal audits and support external audits, regulatory visits and provider registration processes
• Strengthen systems for clinical governance, incident management, complaints, risk and continuous improvement
• Coordinate responses to the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission, including complaints, SIRS notifications and regulatory submissions
• Assist with investigations into serious or high-risk incidents, complaints and emerging trends
• Analyse quality and operational data to identify risks, themes and improvement opportunities
• Develop practical reporting and oversight mechanisms that provide leadership with clear visibility of quality and compliance performance
• Coach and support managers and employees to understand their responsibilities and embed best practice
• Develop and deliver quality and compliance education where required
• Contribute to broader organisational projects, system improvements and quality-indicator reporting

About You
You are an experienced quality and compliance professional who understands the realities of delivering care in community settings.

You will be comfortable entering an environment where some frameworks still need to be created, strengthened or better connected. You can bring structure to complexity, translate regulation into practical operating processes and establish systems that people will genuinely use.

You will also be a credible and collaborative partner to operational teams. Your approach will be solutions-focused and educational, while maintaining appropriate oversight and accountability.

Essential Experience and Capabilities

• Demonstrated quality, compliance or clinical-governance experience within community aged care
• Strong working knowledge of contemporary aged-care legislation, regulation and quality standards
• Experience with community-care programs such as Support at Home, Home Care Packages and the Commonwealth Home Support Programme
• The ability to design and implement governance frameworks, systems and processes—not only maintain established ones
• Experience leading internal audits and supporting external audits or regulatory reviews
• Experience developing and reviewing policies, procedures and compliance documentation
• Knowledge of complaints management, incident investigation, SIRS and regulatory reporting
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret data, identify trends and translate findings into improvement actions
• Excellent written communication and report-writing capability
• Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the confidence to influence and support leaders
• The ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail
• Confidence using quality-management systems, databases and reporting tools

Experience across NDIS-funded services would be advantageous. A formal qualification in quality, clinical governance, health, nursing or another relevant discipline will be highly regarded, as will current AHPRA registration.

The position will be based in Sydney's Eastern Suburbs, with some travel to other sites as required.
