Avance Clinical is seeking an AI Specialist to design, build, and ship practical AI solutions that solve real business problems and create measurable impact. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys moving quickly from idea to proof-of-concept, from MVP to production, and who knows how to balance speed, quality, governance, and commercial value.
The successful candidate will combine hands-on experience with AI platforms such as Claude, Perplexity, and Microsoft Copilot with broader machine learning capability and strong Python skills. Just as importantly, this person will help grow AI capability across the organisation by lifting AI literacy, building trust, and enabling others to adopt and use AI confidently.
About the role:
Working closely with research, operations, and business stakeholders, the AI Specialist will identify and prioritise use cases based on ROI, readiness, feasibility, and value. This role combines technical delivery with commercial awareness, including facilitation of workshops, hands-on solution design and build, training, and tracking the impact of deployed solutions.
As a data- and trust-driven organisation, Avance Clinical expects AI solutions that are secure, explainable, reproducible, and aligned with research objectives and customer commitments.
What you'll do
- Build, test, deploy, and iterate AI tools and agents using platforms such as Perplexity, Claude, and Microsoft Copilot.
- Move rapidly from proof-of-concept to MVP to production, delivering value in short, iterative cycles.
- Apply machine learning and analytics techniques to large datasets to support prediction, optimisation, and decision-making.
- Assess approved use cases for readiness, delivery effort, and likely value.
- Support build, buy, or defer decisions using clear, evidence-based criteria.
- Track value delivered after deployment and recommend optimisation, scaling, or retirement where appropriate.
- Use generative and agentic AI to automate repetitive technical and operational workflows and reduce manual effort.
- Build secure-by-design solutions that operate within agreed data storage, retention, privacy, and segregation requirements.
- Partner with legal, privacy, compliance, and business stakeholders to understand data residency and IP considerations of third-party tools and models.
- Drive AI adoption and literacy across the business through practical guidance, reusable tools, and capability-building initiatives.
- Foster an internal AI community by sharing wins, surfacing use cases, and encouraging safe experimentation.
- Design and deliver practical training, workshops, playbooks, prompt patterns, and enablement materials for technical and non-technical audiences.
- Maintain reproducible, auditable experiments with strong version control, documentation, and metadata.
- Translate relevant AI developments into practical business insights, separating real opportunity from hype.
What you'll bring
- Proven hands-on experience building and shipping AI solutions using platforms such as Claude, Perplexity, or Microsoft Copilot.
- Strong practical machine learning capability beyond GenAI, supported by solid Python skills.
- Experience designing and delivering training, workshops, or enablement resources for mixed technical and non-technical audiences.
- A strong interest in AI enablement, literacy, and helping others become confident builders.
- Familiarity with cloud environments and AI/ML tooling across AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Strong business process analysis skills with a clear bias for action and a focus on outcomes.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain AI concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving ability, with the confidence to work independently and collaboratively.
- Experience in biotech, life sciences, healthcare data, or other regulated environments will be highly regarded.
- Commercial awareness and a practical mindset when evaluating solution options and business value.
Why this role matters This is an opportunity to help shape how AI is adopted across a growing organisation by delivering practical tools, building confidence, and embedding repeatable capability. The role will suit someone who is equally comfortable building solutions themselves and helping others learn how to build, use, and scale AI responsibly.
Core behaviours
- Open, honest, and courteous in all interactions.
- Strong commitment to security across hardware, data, and networks.
- Consistent alignment with company policies, procedures, and quality expectations.
- Reliable completion of required training and departmental responsibilities.
Apply If you are passionate about practical AI, enjoy turning ideas into working tools, and want to help an organisation build AI capability in a secure and commercially meaningful way, this is a strong opportunity to make an impact at Avance Clinical.
