APAC-Based | Global CRO Leadership | Executive Impact

At Avance Clinical, we are accelerating the development of innovative therapies for patients worldwide. As a leading Australian-based Contract Research Organisation with a growing global footprint, we partner predominantly with biotech companies to deliver high-quality clinical trials across multiple regions.

We are seeking an accomplished Executive Director, Project Delivery to be based in APAC and lead our global Project Delivery function through its next phase of growth and operational excellence.

This is a pivotal leadership role with enterprise-wide influence.

The Role
Reporting to the Vice President, Global Project Delivery you will:

• Oversee the broader Project Delivery function, aligning regional and global execution to achieve company-wide strategic objectives.
• Lead global initiatives that strengthen project delivery and align regions to a common framework.
• Ensure consistent, high‑quality project delivery across all regions in Avance’s global footprint, driving best practice and improvement.
• Provide strategic, operational, and commercial leadership across global Project Delivery functions, encompassing Project Management, Vendor Management, and Client Engagement.

Key Responsibilities
ANZ Project Operations

• Provide operational oversight and leadership across all ANZ project delivery activities.
• Drive financial and operational KPIs including revenue, gross margin, utilisation, realisation, and backlog variance

Global Project Operations & PMO

• Align regional delivery teams to unified global standards.
• Lead and/or develop Project Delivery leaders across ANZ, North America and Asia.
• Set strategic direction for a standardised, global PMO model
• Maintain a cohesive operational framework aligned to strategy
• Drive global training and capability uplift

Align Commercial & Operational Strategy

• Lead design of clinical development and trial execution strategies for multi‑country studies
• Ensure strategies are feasible and aligned to corporate, client and regulatory needs.
• Partner with Finance and Commercial teams to optimise pricing, resource planning, and profitability/
• Support proposals, bid defences and key client discussions.

Strategic Client Management

• Define and apply a framework for managing strategic clients
• Lead governance forums and resolve issues proactively
• Own the strategic client list and engagement priorities

Vendor Management

• Lead the Strategic Vendor Manager function
• Optimise vendor performance, quality, compliance and value
• Drive contracting, SLAs, risk management and cost/efficiency gains

  
About You
You are a senior leader within biotech, pharmaceutical, or CRO environments who combines commercial insight with operational excellence, with experience leading ANZ-based operations.

You bring:

• 15+ years’ experience within biotech/pharma/CRO environments (GCP essential)
• 10+ years’ senior leadership experience
• Strong Clinical Operations background
• Deep knowledge of ICH GCP and global regulatory environments
• Demonstrated experience leading global, cross-cultural teams
• Proven ability to scale and globalise operational functions
• Strong financial acumen and commercial judgement

You are strategic yet hands-on, commercially astute, culturally intelligent, and capable of operating at executive level while remaining connected to delivery realities.
