Job opportunity: Class 1 Driver & Yard/Shop Worker to join our team in Taber, AB,
Full-time, Permanent (Mon-Friday, every other Saturday + on-call)
Are you ready for an exciting new adventure? We're on the lookout for a dynamic Class 1 Driver & Yard/Shop Worker to join our team in Taber, AB, serving farms across Alberta and Saskatchewan. Dive into a role where every day brings new challenges and opportunities in the world of row crop farming, including potatoes, carrots, onions, beans, garlic, and other specialty crops.
What you will do:
- Assemble cutting-edge equipment both in our shop and out in the field.
- Drive, pre-inspect, and operate trucks to ensure smooth operations.
- Comfortable in driving wide loads.
- Follow clear instructions and navigate to various locations using road maps.
- Pick up and deliver equipment and parts, ensuring accuracy with every load.
- Perform basic vehicle maintenance and adhere to all safe work practices.
- Complete and verify paperwork with precision.
- Troubleshoot, repair, rebuild, and maintain various farm machinery and equipment, including electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical systems.
- Install and retrofit complex production equipment, with some fabricating and welding as needed.
- Stay updated on competitive products to keep us ahead of the curve.
- Maintain a clean and orderly work area, both in the shop and on the field.
- Diagnose and repair equipment on-site as required.
- Perform all tasks safely, whether working solo or with a team.
- Take on additional duties as needed, bringing your versatility to the fore.
What you will need: - A valid Class 1 Driver’s License.
- Dependability and self-motivation as a team player with strong communication skills.
- Knowledge of parts and machinery, ideally with row crop equipment.
- The ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, schematics, drawings, manuals, and specifications.
- Keen attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy.
- The ability to work both independently and as part of a team, with minimal supervision.
- A commitment to maintaining safe working conditions at all times.
- The ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, handling pressure and shifting priorities with ease.
- Strong computer and technology skills.
- A clean driver’s abstract and a valid forklift certificate.
