The Opportunity

Our client is seeking a Senior Associate (7+ PQE) to join a high-performing disputes team specialising in construction and engineering disputes, and insurance coverage litigation.

Working closely with senior partners, you will advise a broad client base including insurers, contractors, principals, and consultants on high-value, technically complex matters. The work spans the full lifecycle of disputes from front-end risk advisory through to litigation, arbitration, and alternative dispute resolution.

This role offers exposure to some of the market’s most significant construction and infrastructure disputes, often involving multi-party claims, major project failures, and complex insurance coverage issues.

This team is recognised for it's deep expertise at the intersection of construction and insurance, acting on high-value, technically demanding disputes. The partners are known for their strategic approach to litigation and their strong relationships across the insurance and construction sectors.
You will be part of a collaborative team that values technical excellence, practical advice, and long-term client partnerships.


Key Responsibilities

• Act on large-scale construction and engineering disputes (including defects, delay, and disruption claims)
• Advise insurers on policy coverage, indemnity disputes, and subrogated recoveries
• Manage professional indemnity matters involving engineers, contractors, and other construction professionals
• Run Supreme Court litigation, arbitrations, adjudications, and mediations
• Provide strategic advice on risk allocation, contract interpretation, and dispute avoidance
• Work closely with clients, experts, and counsel on technically complex matters
• Mentor junior lawyers and contribute to team development

Requirements

• 7+ years’ PQE with a strong background in construction disputes or insurance litigation, or bot
• Experience acting for insurers (particularly in construction-related claims) highly regarded
• Familiarity with standard form construction contracts (e.g. AS, bespoke EPC/D&C)
• Strong understanding of coverage issues, liability frameworks, and quantum in construction claims
• Proven ability to manage complex matters and engage directly with clients
• Commercially focused with strong drafting and advocacy skills
