A leading global, international law firm is seeking an Associate (2-5 PAE) to join its growing Tax team in Sydney, with a focus on stamp duty, GST, land tax, and customs duty.
The Role
The Associate will play a key role in advising multinational clients on a broad range of indirect tax matters, including stamp duty, GST, land tax, and customs duty. They will provide practical, commercial, and technically rigorous advice to clients on both routine compliance issues and complex transactions.
Responsibilities will include:
- Advising on stamp duty, GST, land tax, and customs duty issues arising from corporate and real estate transactions.
- Assisting in structuring domestic and cross-border deals to optimize tax outcomes.
- Supporting dispute resolution matters, including negotiation with revenue authorities.
- Collaborating with global offices and multidisciplinary teams across Corporate, Employment, Banking & Finance, Litigation, Intellectual Property, and Real Estate practice groups.
- Engaging with clients directly, developing strong relationships, and participating in business development initiatives.

Candidate Profile
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in Australian indirect taxes, particularly stamp duty and GST
- Experience in a top-tier, mid-tier or leading international firm
- Strong technical, drafting, and commercial skills
- Excellent analytical, communication, and research abilities
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain client relationships
