Our client is an international law firm and has an opportunity for an Associate to join it's growing Corporate Practice Group in Sydney. This role offers the chance to work on a broad range of domestic and multi-jurisdictional corporate and commercial transactions, including private M&A, equity capital markets, corporate governance, and strategic commercial and supply chain arrangements.
You will work closely with senior practitioners on complex, high-profile matters for leading Australian and global clients, with meaningful responsibility from day one.
The Team and Role:
The team is known for its strength in high-end mergers and acquisitions and its ability to deliver seamlessly across borders. With access to a fully integrated global platform, the practice regularly advises on cross-border transactions of strategic importance, working alongside highly regarded lawyers across multiple jurisdictions.
Areas of experience include:
- Corporate governance and compliance
- Corporate advisory and due diligence
- Foreign investment
- Public and private M&A (including takeover bids)
- Joint ventures and strategic alliances
- Privatisations and public/private partnerships
- Spin-offs, demergers and listings
- Strategic commercial and supply chain agreements
This role will focus primarily on M&A, general commercial work and corporate governance.
Ideally you will have:
- 3–4 years’ post-qualification experience (PQE) in a corporate transactional practice at a reputable law firm
- Solid general corporate experience, including private M&A, ECM and corporate governance
- Strong experience drafting and negotiating commercial, supply chain and collaboration agreements
- Familiarity with procurement and supply chain matters, ideally for clients in the consumer goods or retail sector
- Experience with internal reorganisations and carve-out transactions (highly desirable)
- Excellent drafting skills, strong commercial judgment and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
