Our client is a leading international law firm who are seeking talented lawyers to join its growing Construction & Energy team across Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne. There are two exciting opportunities available:
- Associate or Senior Associate Lawyers (2.5–5 years PQE) – Front-End Project and Advisory Work
- Disputes Construction Lawyers (2–4 years PQE) – Back-End Project and Litigation Work
The firm advises major clients in the construction, infrastructure, and energy sectors on high-profile, complex projects. Lawyers in this team are involved in all aspects of project delivery, from initial advisory and contracting to dispute resolution, providing seamless client service across multiple jurisdictions.
The Construction & Energy team is nationally recognised for its expertise in major infrastructure and energy projects. It acts for a wide range of clients, including property developers, government entities, contractors, and engineering and architectural consultants.
The team combines deep industry knowledge with a collaborative approach, supported by a national resourcing model that allows lawyers to gain extensive project experience early in their careers. Lawyers frequently work across offices in Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane, as well as internationally, on projects spanning energy, renewables, transport, public infrastructure, and commercial developments.
The Roles
Associate/Senior Associate – Front-End Projects The front-end role focuses on the early stages of major construction and energy projects, including advising on:
- Structuring and negotiating contracts for infrastructure, energy, solar, and wind projects
- PPPs, large-scale developments, BESS projects, and other complex transactions
- Legal and commercial risk management for project delivery
- Supporting clients through project development from inception to financial close
Key Requirements: - 4–5 years PQE experience in construction law or related contract law areas (telecommunications/technology experience considered)
- Experience advising on major projects, preferably in infrastructure or renewables
- Strong academic and legal qualifications; top-tier or international firm experience preferred
- Excellent drafting, technical, and commercial skills
- Strong client service, initiative, and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively across multiple jurisdictions
Disputes Construction Lawyer – Back-End Projects The back-end disputes role focuses on the resolution of construction and energy project issues, including:
- Advising on and managing construction disputes and claims for major projects
- Supporting clients on contractual, commercial, and regulatory issues arising during project delivery
- Collaborating with international and local teams to resolve complex disputes efficiently
Key Requirements: - 2–4 years PQE experience in construction law or related contract law areas (telecommunications/technology experience considered)
- Experience managing disputes or claims arising from infrastructure, renewables, solar, or wind projects
- Strong academic and legal qualifications; top-tier or international firm experience preferred
- Excellent drafting, technical, and commercial skills
- Strong client service, initiative, and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively across multiple jurisdictions
