Senior Transition Project Manager — Superannuation

Location: Hybrid — approximately 2 days per week on-site (Sydney or Melbourne) 

Engagement type: Contract, long-term with strong likelihood of extension

About the role We are seeking an experienced Senior Transition Project Manager to lead a large-scale superannuation registry platform transition. The next cohort of work involves migrating a significant volume of employer plans and tens of thousands of members onto a modern administration platform.

Reporting to the Programme Manager, you will own the master transition schedule, drive the discovery phase, and coordinate delivery across business, technology, product, insurance, and member communications workstreams.

The role is a dedicated transition delivery position, distinct from internal client-communications and disclosure functions, so your focus will be purely on executing the platform migration.

The successful candidate will bridge business and technology effectively without stepping into solution design, and will bring the credibility to manage upwards and push back on delivery estimates where needed.

Responsibilities

• Own and maintain the master transition schedule across all workstreams — business, technology, product, insurance, and member communications.
• Lead the Discovery phase: initial planning, scheduling, risk analysis, requirements gathering, and solution design coordination.
• Coordinate with internal stakeholders on client disclosures, insurance changes, and member communications timelines.
• Manage platform and project dependencies across the broader programme.
• Oversee data quality remediation on the source registry, working closely with data and technology teams.
• Manage complex plan structures, including cases requiring standalone products to be built prior to migration.
• Apply lessons learned from earlier cohorts and post-implementation reviews to improve the delivery approach.
• Identify and escalate risks and issues proactively; set timelines off the back of technology estimations rather than arbitrary fixed dates.
• Engage with product and technology leads across multiple office locations.

Key requirements

• Proven experience managing superannuation platform migrations or Successor Fund Transfers — essential and non-negotiable.
• Deep understanding of the transition lifecycle: asset transfers, unit pricing, insurance changes, employer plan configurations, member data, and rollovers.
• Strong master schedule management capability across business and technology workstreams.
• Familiarity with superannuation registry and modern administration platforms highly regarded.
• Ability to engage credibly with both business and technology stakeholders without crossing into solution design.
• Strong stakeholder management — comfortable pushing back on technology teams and managing upwards.
• Experience with large cohort migrations (tens of thousands of members) and complex plan structures.
• Based in Sydney or Melbourne, or willing to travel as required.
• Audit or governance background is a plus.
