About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Risk Specialist to support a short-term uplift across key risk management capabilities, with a focus on control effectiveness, testing and documentation quality. Working closely with Line 1 and Line 2 stakeholders, you will deliver practical outcomes across control uplift, assurance and risk framework alignment.
Location: Melbourne (Hybrid Model)
Duration: 3 months contract
Key Responsibilities:
Review, uplift and document controls, ensuring alignment to the Risk Management Framework.
Map controls to risks and support consistent control design and documentation.
Conduct and document Design & Operating Effectiveness (DE/OE) testing.
Provide Line 2 oversight and challenge of Line 1 control testing activities.
Support development of Risk Appetite Statements, KRIs and risk profiles.
Contribute to incident, issue and remediation tracking, including root cause analysis.
Provide risk support to projects and change initiatives.
Skills & Experience:
Strong experience in risk frameworks, control uplift and control testing (DE/OE).
Experience in risk profiling, KRIs and risk appetite.
Ability to clearly document and communicate risk and control insights.
Experience working across Line 1 and Line 2 in financial services (superannuation preferred).
Exposure to APRA CPS 220 / CPS 230.
Nice to have:
Exposure to AML/CTF environments.
Experience with GRC systems.
What Will Make You Stand Out:
Practical experience developing or maintaining Risk Appetite metrics and KRIs.
Hands‑on involvement in risk and control uplift programs, regulatory remediation or assurance activities.
Experience supporting project and change risk, including assessments, issue tracking and escalation.
Exposure to relevant regulatory frameworks such as APRA SPS 220 / CPS 230 and AML/CTF obligations.
