ABOUT WELLINGTON PHOENIX:
Wellington Phoenix is a professional football club competing in the Australian A-League competition (Men's and Women's). More than just a football club, the Phoenix is deeply connected to its supporters, partners and communities across Aotearoa.
 
With continued growth on and off the field, the Club is focused on expanding its commercial partnerships and creating new opportunities for businesses to connect with the Phoenix brand. To support this ambition, we are seeking a commercially driven Commercial Sales Manager to grow the Club's partner network and commercial revenue.
 
ROLE SUMMARY:
The Commercial Sales Manager will take ownership of new business development, building and managing a strong sales pipeline from initial prospecting through to negotiation and close. This is a proactive, relationship-led sales role where you will identify new commercial opportunities, engage senior decision-makers and develop creative partnership solutions that deliver value for both the Phoenix and its partners. You will also lead the development and commercialisation of the Club's corporate hospitality programme.
 
Key responsibilities include:

• Driving new partnership and sponsorship sales from prospecting through to close.
• Building relationships with decision-makers, leaders, agencies and prospective partners.
• Developing creative, tailored commercial proposals aligned to partner objectives.
• Identifying new partnership categories, products and revenue opportunities.
• Leading the development and sales of corporate hospitality, matchday experiences and the Chairman's Lounge.
• Building and managing a disciplined sales pipeline through the Club's CRM.
• Working collaboratively across the Club to develop commercially attractive partnership opportunities.

 
ABOUT YOU:
You are a proactive and commercially minded salesperson who enjoys opening doors, building relationships and converting opportunities into long-term partnerships. You will be comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment and have the resilience and drive required to develop new business.
 
Ideally, you will bring:

• Sales /BD experience within sport, media or an agency environment.
• Proven track record of generating new business and closing commercial opportunities.
• Strong relationship-building, influencing and negotiation skills.
• Experience developing tailored proposals and commercial solutions.
• Strong pipeline management and CRM discipline.
• Experience within sport, sponsorship, hospitality or events would be advantageous.
• Knowledge and networks within the New Zealand corporate community would be highly regarded.
