Key contact for Athletics NZ's elite athletes, supporting the development of a world-class HP system and fueling their paths towards greatness!
About Athletics New Zealand:
Athletics New Zealand exists to deliver great athletics experiences. Steeped in history, athletes in the famous black singlet have delivered so many magical New Zealand sporting moments. Athletics is the foundation of all sport (run, jump, throw) and underpinning a strong high-performance programme is a regional network of centres, clubs, schools, and associate members that deliver positive athletics experiences across Aotearoa.
Athletics New Zealand are also leaders in major events, delivering national championships in Track and Field, Cross Country, Road, Mountain and Trail Running, as well as the iconic Red Stag Rotorua Marathon. As they look ahead, Athletics New Zealand are committed to bold, transformational change – evolving from a traditional membership-based model to one that engages a broader, more diverse community. They aim to create new opportunities for participation, grow commercial sustainability, and elevate the profile of athletics across NZ.
Role Summary:
As the primary liaison for Athletics New Zealand’s elite athletes, you will oversee the national implementation of a “Best Practice” Athlete Performance Support system and contribute to the development of a world-class high-performance environment, fueling our athletes’ journeys toward greatness. You will collaborate closely with ANZ elite athletes and their support teams to gather and align competition schedules, seasonal planning, and budgets for both domestic and international campaigns. Using this insight, you will provide strategic recommendations for funding and resource allocation to the High-Performance Director. Additionally, you will lead dynamic weekly meetings with high performance specialists — spanning medical, physiotherapy, strength and conditioning, performance psychology, performance life, and nutrition — to ensure these athletes receive world-class support. Your leadership will ensure that athlete needs are met and that performance information is consistently current, clear, and actionable. You will play a key role in ensuring that the Athletics New Zealand high performance programme is on-track to achieving its bold 2028 vision: winning two medals at the Los Angeles Olympic Games and six medals at the Los Angeles Paralympic Games.
