Community Connections – Te Hapori Āwhina Tāngata is a purpose-driven organisation dedicated to supporting people with disabilities to live the life they choose, connected to their communities and supported to thrive. Guided by a strong commitment to inclusion, dignity and belonging, Community Connections works alongside individuals, whānau and communities to create opportunities for meaningful participation and independence.

Community Connections is now seeking to strengthen its Māori governance capability and welcomes interest from Māori candidates who can bring this depth of experience and perspective.

The Board is committed to giving meaningful effect to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and to ensuring that te ao Māori and Māori perspectives are reflected in its thinking and decision-making.

We are particularly interested in candidates who bring:

• a strong grounding in Te Tiriti o Waitangi
• experience in te ao Māori, Māori governance, or kaupapa Māori leadership
• connection to, or a proven track record of successfully navigating relationships with, Iwi, Hapū, and Whānau networks
• proven governance experience and strategic capability
• experience and insight in health or disability
• experience with fundraising

This is a rewarding governance opportunity for an individual who is motivated by purpose and who wants to contribute their skills to an organisation making a tangible difference in the lives of people and communities across Aotearoa.
