HR Director (9-Month Contract) Toronto / Remote
** Very occasional on-site sessions in DT Toronto **
An opportunity to step into a highly visible HR leadership role supporting executive stakeholders through a period of transformation, organizational evolution, and business growth.
This is not a traditional HRBP position. The role requires an elevated, strategic HR partnership approach with a strong coaching mindset, executive presence, and the ability to guide leaders through complex people decisions with clarity, empathy, and confidence.
The organization is evolving its service delivery model toward greater automation and scalability, creating meaningful opportunities to influence organizational design, leadership effectiveness, and long-term business success.
The Opportunity
Reporting into senior leadership, the HR Director will serve as a trusted advisor across multiple client groups, partnering closely with VP and C-suite leaders in a founder-led environment. Success in this role will require strong judgment, calm leadership, and the ability to navigate both strategic transformation initiatives and day-to-day people matters seamlessly.
This individual will play a critical role in strengthening leadership capability, coaching managers through complex employee situations, and helping leaders make thoughtful, business-aligned people decisions that move the organization forward.
The environment is fast-paced, highly collaborative, and best suited for someone who can quickly assess organizational dynamics, identify risks, and establish credibility with minimal ramp-up time.

- Facilitate candid, productive conversations in a founder-led environment where leaders may require support navigating feedback and alignment discussions
- Execute and maintain core talent programs including performance management, succession planning, workforce planning, and employee relations
- Utilize HR data and business insights to identify trends, assess risks, and drive informed decision-making
- Ensure consistency, fairness, and compliance across HR practices within Canadian, North American, and international employment legislation
- Provide hands-on support to managers who require additional coaching, structure, and leadership guidance
- Balance strategic priorities with practical execution, ensuring continuity and stability throughout the contract term

- Meaningful contribution to organizational design and change initiatives that support the company’s evolving business model
The Ideal Profile You are a calm, credible, and highly thoughtful HR leader who brings both strategic capability and practical execution. You know how to influence senior leaders while creating trust and psychological safety across teams.
You thrive in environments where diplomacy, coaching, and business acumen are equally important. You are patient, empathetic, and capable of translating nuanced people challenges into actionable solutions for leaders who value direct, clear communication.
This role is well suited to someone who: - Operates as a true strategic business partner rather than a transactional HR lead
- Brings strong executive coaching capability and experience navigating complex leadership dynamics
- Has successfully supported organizational change, restructuring, and transformation initiatives
- Can build credibility quickly and operate with a high degree of autonomy
- Maintains composure and sound judgment in fast-moving or ambiguous environments
Compensation
