Director, Total Rewards

Location: Scarborough, Ontario
Work Arrangement: Hybrid, minimum three days in the office
Reports to: Chief Human Resources Officer

A newly created opportunity is available for an experienced Director, Total Rewards to build and lead the global Total Rewards strategy for a growing, entrepreneurial organization with approximately 2,000 employees across multiple regions globally. 

This is a high-impact role for a strategic and operationally minded leader who enjoys creating structure, strengthening governance, and building scalable programs in an evolving environment.

Reporting directly to the CHRO, the Director will lead a small, experienced team of (2) and partner closely with regional HR, Finance, Legal, Payroll, HRIS, brokers, consultants, and business leaders. The role will establish global frameworks and standards while supporting regional teams with local execution.

Key Areas of Responsibility

• Develop and govern a global Total Rewards strategy aligned with business growth and talent priorities.
• Lead compensation philosophy, job architecture, levelling, salary structures, incentives, benchmarking, and pay equity.
• Oversee benefits, wellbeing, pension, retirement, legacy programs, and perquisites.
• Strengthen payroll governance, compliance, controls, continuity, and time and attendance practices.
• Provide oversight of HRIS governance, data integrity, reporting, and system optimization.
• Develop a global mobility strategy, including relocation, assignments, cross-border work, and related compliance.
• Establish dashboards, KPIs, scorecards, and executive reporting.
• Support M&A due diligence, integrations, organizational change, and program harmonization.
• Build consistent global policies, processes, governance frameworks, and approval practices.
• Lead, coach, and develop Total Rewards team members while partnering with regional contributors.

The successful candidate will bring strong executive presence, sound judgment, and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-changing environment. This individual will be comfortable balancing strategic vision with hands-on execution and navigating the realities of global, regional, and local priorities.

You are likely to be someone who:

• Has built or transformed Total Rewards programs in a complex, multi-jurisdictional organization.
• Can influence senior stakeholders and communicate clearly with executive leadership.
• Brings a strong commercial, analytical, and data-driven approach.
• Understands how to establish global standards while respecting regional requirements.
• Is pragmatic, adaptable, collaborative, and comfortable working through ambiguity.
• Can lead change, build alignment, and bring stakeholders along.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of senior Total Rewards leadership experience.
• Significant expertise across compensation, benefits, job architecture, pay equity, payroll, and HR systems.
• Experience leading programs across multiple countries or jurisdictions.
• Strong knowledge of Canadian compensation, benefits, employment standards, and pay equity.
• Experience with U.S. rewards practices; exposure to Mexico, Europe, or APAC is an asset.
• Demonstrated experience with salary structures, incentive programs, market benchmarking, governance, and pay transparency.
• Experience overseeing HRIS, payroll, time and attendance, mobility, dashboards, and executive reporting.
• Experience supporting M&A, integrations, and organizational transformation.
• Experience with BambooHR and ADP is considered an asset.
