Build Your Trade Career with ManufactHER

The Opportunity Want to work with your hands, learn real trade skills and get paid while you become qualified?
CCGT is looking for 2 x Sheet Metal Apprentices to join a global organisation based in Somersby that manufactures industrial cooling towers.
This opportunity is supported by CCGT’s ManufactHER Program, which encourages women to explore hands-on careers in manufacturing, trades and technical workplaces. We welcome applications from anyone who is practical, reliable and ready to learn. No previous sheet metal or manufacturing experience is needed. You just need to be curious, safety-focused and willing to give things a go.
You will be employed by Central Coast Group Training (CCGT) and placed with the Host Employer for your day-to-day work. CCGT will support you throughout your apprenticeship while you complete a nationally recognised sheet metal trade qualification through a reputable Training Organisation.
This is a full-time, 4-year apprenticeship, generally working 6:00am to 2:06pm, Monday to Friday. Training will be delivered through a mix of on-the-job learning and on-campus workshops where required.

As your skills grow, you’ll start learning how to:
- Fabricate and install thin gauge metal components
- Read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
- Measure, cut, bend and shape metal
- Assist with fabrication, assembly and installation work
- Follow workplace procedures and safety requirements
- Use hand tools, machinery and workshop equipment safely
- Build practical skills in metalworking and fabrication
- Complete formal training throughout your apprenticeship
You’ll also learn to safely operate and work with:
- Shears
- CNC Punch
- CNC Press Brakes
- Pipe Threaders
- Welding equipment
You will not be expected to know everything on day one. The goal is to listen, ask questions and keep improving.
Why This Is a Good Place to Start You’ll be learning in a manufacturing workplace with:
- 2x apprenticeship positions available
- Hands-on experience making components for industrial cooling towers
- Training with experienced tradespeople
- Exposure to shears, CNC machinery, pipe threaders and welding equipment
- Practical skills in measuring, cutting, bending and installing metal components
- A supportive team environment
- Regular CCGT check-ins throughout your apprenticeship
- Support through CCGT’s ManufactHER Program
You’ll also receive paid full-time employment, formal trade training and on-the-job experience in a global manufacturing environment.
After your apprenticeship, career pathways may include Qualified Sheet Metal Worker, Metal Fabricator, CNC Operator, Production Tradesperson, Welding Tradesperson, Leading Hand or Manufacturing Supervisor.

- Have basic measuring and numeracy skills
- Can work safely and respect the team around you
