The OpportunityLove cars and want to learn in a workshop that works on European vehicles?
CCGT is looking for a 1st Year Apprentice Mechanic to join a fast-paced automotive repair workshop in Erina.
This is a great opportunity to learn in a professional workshop that specialises in European vehicles, delivers high customer service standards and provides regular in-house specialist training. No previous workshop experience is needed. You just need to be reliable, curious and ready to learn.
You will be employed by Central Coast Group Training (CCGT) and placed with the Host Employer for your day-to-day work. CCGT will support you throughout your apprenticeship while you complete a nationally recognised Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology.
What You’ll Actually Be Doing Working 7:45am to 3:45pm Monday to Friday, your first few months will focus on learning workshop safety, getting familiar with tools and equipment, and helping qualified technicians with daily jobs.
As your skills grow, you’ll start learning how to:
- Assist with vehicle servicing, repairs and inspections
- Learn how technicians diagnose faults and identify vehicle issues
- Select parts needed to complete repairs
- Read and interpret fault reports, job cards and inspection forms
- Maintain workshop tools and equipment, including hoists and wheel-balancing equipment
- Help keep the workshop clean, safe and organised
- Wash customer vehicles with care and attention to detail
- Complete job cards and basic workshop records
- Follow workplace health and safety procedures
You may also be required to pick up parts from time to time as part of your role.
You will not be expected to know everything on day one. The goal is to learn, ask questions and keep improving.

You’ll also receive paid full-time employment, uniform, on-the-job training and regular support from CCGT throughout your apprenticeship.
After your apprenticeship, career pathways may include Qualified Light Vehicle Mechanic, Automotive Technician, European Vehicle Specialist, Diagnostic Technician, Workshop Leading Hand or Service Manager.
What We’re Looking For This role could suit you if you:
- Are genuinely interested in cars and the automotive industry
- Are keen to learn about European vehicles
- Turn up on time and are ready to learn
- Listen carefully and follow instructions
- Ask questions when you are unsure
- Work safely and respect the team around you
- Enjoy hands-on work
- Have good attention to detail
- Can handle a fast-paced workshop environment
- Have a current NSW Class C driver’s licence
- Are willing to complete a licence history check
- Have your own vehicle
A current First Aid Certificate or knowledge of workplace health and safety would be helpful, but is not essential. School projects, work experience, sport, volunteering, car projects, hobbies or helping family all count. Include anything that shows you are reliable, practical and willing to have a go.
Pay This is a paid, full-time apprenticeship. Current first-year apprentice rates are:
- $14.73 per hour, or approximately $559.55 per week for Under 21, not completed Year 12
- $16.20 per hour, or approximately $615.51 per week for Under 21, completed Year 12
- $23.56 per hour, or approximately $895.28 per week for Adult
Rates are before tax and based on 38 ordinary hours per week. Your exact rate will depend on the applicable apprenticeship classification and will be confirmed before an employment offer is made. Superannuation and any applicable overtime, penalty rates and allowances are paid in addition. Once qualified your earning capacity can be up to $90,000+ per year
