1st Year Apprentice Mechanic | Wyoming, Central Coast NSW | Full-time | Start ASAP

CCGT is looking for 1st Year Apprentice Mechanics to join a trusted automotive dealership in Wyoming. There are 2 positions available.
No previous workshop experience is needed. You just need to be reliable, curious and ready to learn.
You will be employed by Central Coast Group Training (CCGT) and placed with the Host Employer for your day-to-day work. CCGT will support you throughout your apprenticeship while you complete a nationally recognised Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology.
This is a full-time role, working 8:00am to 4:06pm, Monday to Friday. Some overtime and weekend work may be required.
What You’ll Actually Be Doing Your first few months will focus on learning workshop safety, getting familiar with tools and equipment, and helping qualified technicians with daily jobs.
As your skills grow, you’ll start learning how to:
- Service vehicles and complete express maintenance
- Assist qualified technicians with mechanical repairs
- Check fluids, tyres, filters and basic vehicle components
- Build skills in diagnostics and repairs across multiple brands
- Use tools and workshop equipment safely
- Follow workplace health and safety procedures
- Keep the workshop clean, safe and organised
You will not be expected to know everything on day one. The goal is to learn, ask questions and keep improving.

After your apprenticeship, career pathways may include Qualified Light Vehicle Mechanic, Automotive Technician, Diagnostic Technician, Workshop Leading Hand, Service Advisor or Workshop Supervisor.

- Are genuinely interested in cars and the automotive industry
- Turn up on time and are ready to learn
- Listen carefully and follow instructions
- Ask questions when you are unsure
- Work safely and respect the team around you
- Enjoy hands-on work
- Can handle a busy, fast-moving workshop environment
- Have good communication skills
- Have a driver’s licence
- Have your own vehicle, preferred
- Are willing to complete a criminal check and licence history check
School projects, work experience, sport, volunteering, car projects, hobbies or helping family all count. Include anything that shows you are reliable, practical and willing to have a go.
Pay This is a paid, full-time apprenticeship. Current first-year apprentice rates are:
- $14.73 per hour, or approximately $559.55 per week for Under 21, not completed Year 12
- $16.20 per hour, or approximately $615.51 per week for Under 21, completed Year 12
- $23.56 per hour, or approximately $895.28 per week for Adult (over 21)
Rates are before tax and based on 38 ordinary hours per week. Your exact rate will depend on the applicable apprenticeship classification and will be confirmed before an employment offer is made. Superannuation and any applicable overtime, penalty rates and allowances are paid in addition. Once qualified your earning capacity can be up to $140,000
