We’re representing a major national operator in the transport sector in the search for a NSW HSEQ Manager who can do more than just manage compliance. We're in search of a leader who can design, drive and deliver a high-impact safety strategies across a diverse multi-site business.
  
This is a unique opportunity to partner directly with an MD who is genuinely committed to embedding a safer, more accountable culture. You’ll take ownership of safety outcomes across 11+ depots with the remit to lead strategic transformation, lift capability, and turn ambition into real change.

About the Role
In this hands-on, highly visible position, you will be responsible for developing and executing a safety roadmap that moves beyond KPIs and audits. Your success will be measured by your ability to engage teams, shift behaviours, and embed a proactive safety mindset from leadership to the front line.
  
Reporting to the Managing Director (with a dotted line to the GM HSE), you’ll lead two direct reports and oversee a network of safety advisors. The role requires a clear strategic thinker who also knows how to execute - someone who can turn complex challenges into achievable, business-aligned solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Design & Deliver Safety Strategy: Build a forward-thinking safety strategy that integrates WHS, RTW, risk, and cultural improvement initiatives across the organisation.
• Embed Cultural Change: Influence leaders and frontline workers to take ownership of safety through coaching, communication, and behavioural leadership.
• Develop Capability: Coach and uplift a geographically dispersed safety team; address performance gaps and build internal bench strength.
• Multi-Site Oversight: Tailor and implement your strategy across all NSW depots with different operating models, cultures, and contract structures.
• Ensure Best Practice & Compliance: Lead the business in meeting obligations under WHS, COR, fatigue, workers comp, and self-insurance frameworks.
• Incident & Risk Management: Oversee serious incidents with strong ICAM or equivalent methodology, balancing operational, legal, and reputational risks.
• Drive Improvement: Continuously challenge the status quo by identifying gaps in systems, behaviours and data – and implementing measurable change.

• Sector background in high-risk industries – transport, logistics, manufacturing, construction, mining or oil & gas.
• Proven experience in creating and executing integrated safety strategies across large, complex or multi-site environments.
• Strong leadership background with a track record of developing high-performing safety teams and engaging frontline teams in meaningful ways.
• Expertise in WHS legislation, COR, fatigue, RTW, and self-insurance frameworks.
• Demonstrated ability to lead cultural change and shift organisational mindset around safety.
• Experience managing serious incidents and investigations (ICAM preferred).
• Tertiary qualification in WHS, safety science or equivalent experience.
