We are seeking an experienced Lead Civil Engineer to join our Brisbane team. This is a senior leadership role overseeing a team of approximately 7 engineers and designers, driving technical excellence and business growth across multi-disciplinary projects in the mining, resources, and infrastructure sectors.
 
Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the Civil discipline across studies, detailed design, and execution phases.
• Mentor and develop a high-performing team, ensuring effective workload management and project delivery.
• Provide technical expertise and guidance on structural and civil design, ensuring compliance with Australian Standards, client specifications, and legislative requirements.
• Collaborate with internal discipline leads, drafting teams, and external stakeholders to deliver accurate and timely outputs.
• Lead risk analysis, design reviews, and operability studies to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective designs.
• Support procurement and commissioning phases, including site visits as required.
• Drive business development initiatives, identify new opportunities, and contribute to proposals and bids.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships to foster long-term partnerships and expand Wave's project portfolio.

 
Qualifications & Experience

• Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from a recognised institution.
• Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) and RPEQ accreditation (essential).
• 10+ years experience in civil engineering, including leadership roles within consultancy environment.
• Proven experience managing multi-disciplinary teams and delivering projects from concept to execution.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills.
• Business development experience within mining, resources, or infrastructure sectors.
• Excellent problem-solving, time management, and communication skills.
