CORPORATE BUYER
Hybrid: Miami, FL (4 days in office, 1 day work from home)
$100,000 - $150,000 (based on experience)
WHY THIS ROLE EXISTS
A membership-based warehouse retail organization operating across the U.S. and Latin America/Caribbean markets is hiring a Corporate Buyer to own merchandise strategy for an assigned category portfolio. This is a full buying seat — not a support role. You will manage vendor relationships, negotiate costs and terms, control inventory health, and drive gross margin performance across a multi-warehouse footprint. The work sits at the intersection of commercial negotiation, supply chain discipline, and member-facing merchandising.
WHAT YOU WILL OWN
Merchandise Strategy & Category Management
- Develop and maintain merchandise strategy for assigned categories, balancing member value, competitive positioning, and profitability.
- Collaborate with regional and U.S.-based senior merchandising leaders to build category item plans by department and warehouse location, maintaining pre-established SKU count targets.
- Build and manage seasonal calendars for items with strong seasonal demand cycles.
- Develop in-and-out programs to enrich categories that need depth or variety rotation.
- Visit warehouse locations as needed to assess program execution, gather in-store feedback, and evaluate implementation effectiveness.
Vendor Negotiation & Relationship Management - Lead negotiations on product cost, terms of sale, discounts, freight allowances, return allowances, and gross margin targets — all aligned to established pricing strategy.
- Establish vendor payment terms with a minimum weighted average of 45 days, without incurring additional cost-of-goods impact.
- Conduct two formal annual vendor performance reviews to assess results and align on forward goals.
- Ensure all vendor agreements (new and existing) are executed and on file.
- Monitor vendor invoice payment timeliness.
- Coordinate with the vendor promotions function to secure vendor funding for promotional programs.
Inventory & Financial Accountability - Own sales, gross margin dollars, gross margin percent, and inventory metrics for U.S.-sourced items, keeping days-supply and inventory dollars within budget.
- Assess current inventory levels, market conditions, product availability, and promotional impact to forecast order quantities and provide replenishment recommendations.
- Establish and manage replenishment quantity criteria, including bracket pricing review and distribution options for low-stock situations.
- Generate, review, and act on daily and weekly reports tracking cost, quality, service levels, inventory turns, and out-of-stock positions.
- Review slow-moving items and develop action plans to recover against budget.
- Manage and maintain accurate item data (weight, cube, terms, unit pricing, category codes) in the merchandising system.
Operations & Competitive Intelligence - Ensure timely resolution of merchandising notes from warehouse operations.
- Maintain a productive working relationship between the buying function and field operations.
- Oversee competitive shopping program; review weekly competitive shop results and take pricing action as warranted.
- Identify new products and sourcing methods to maintain market competitiveness and drive ongoing member satisfaction.
Budget & Team Oversight - Administer department budget efficiently.
- Review annual budgets prior to each fiscal year and submit recommendations for adjustments to senior leadership.
- Analyze work methods and distribution of tasks to reduce idle time and maximize team productivity.
- Monitor team performance and identify training needs on an ongoing basis.
WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH Internal: Buying team peers, warehouse/club managers, HR, logistics and trade compliance, receiving
External: Domestic and international vendors
End stakeholders: Members (the organization's customer base)
WHAT YOU BRING Education & Experience - Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Management, or a related field.

Technical Skills - Proficiency in Windows-based systems; experience with AS400 or legacy ERP environments a plus.
- Strong analytical and math skills; comfortable working with margin, cost, and inventory data daily.
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish (verbal and written) strongly preferred given the regional scope of this role.

- Must adhere to all company codes of conduct, ethics, security, and safety guidelines.
