Director of Field Operations – Miami Based
Construction Technology Company
Focus on MEP - Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (wet systems)

Open to a Director Level or Strong Project Manager in Field Operations
Field-Based | Full-Time |Direct Hire
Hybrid in South Florida |  Quarterly overnight travel ( 3-4 days)
  
** Ideal candidate: A hands-on, Field-based, tech-savvy construction operations leader (at a Director or Senior Project Manager level) who bridges the gap between traditional mechanical contracting and advanced IoT/data solutions.
  
Our client is the fast-growing technology organization operating at the intersection of construction, data, and IoT-enabled solutions. This organization is focused on transforming how risk is managed and performance is optimized across complex construction environments.  They focus on smart monitoring system built specifically for the construction and civil engineering industries.
  
This role is ideal for a hands-on leader with deep expertise in mechanical systems and construction operations, who thrives in dynamic environments and is passionate about delivering excellence from planning through commissioning.
  
Position Summary
The Director of Field Operations will oversee the successful deployment of advanced technology solutions across construction sites. This individual will lead field execution strategies, manage cross-functional coordination, and ensure high-quality delivery across multiple concurrent projects.  The role requires hyper-specialized skills in mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, with heavy emphasis on plumbing (wet systems). Ideal candidate has experience at a big GC reviewing takeoffs or worked at a mechanical contractor for major GCs. Reports to the COO
  
The company focuses on residential high-rises and commercial construction projects, particularly in the mechanical contracting space.
  
Qualifications Required

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
• At least 5+ years of experience in MEP construction experience specifically in multi-story complexes or high rises
• Strong expertise in mechanical systems specifically in Plumbing as well as HVAC, and hydronics (wet systems experience)
• Experience or knowledge with commissioning, controls systems, and building automation (BAS/BMS)
• Proven ability to manage complex, multi-site projects
• Strong understanding of construction documentation, drawings, and specifications a must have!
• Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills
• Ability to troubleshoot on-site, if needed (installation partners handle that work on a regular basis)

  
Preferred

• Professional Engineering (PE or equivalent) certification
• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
• Commissioning certifications (CxA, BCxA)
• Experience with large-scale commercial, institutional, or residential projects
• Background in IoT, sensors, or smart building technologies

  
Key Responsibilities Field Operations & Project Execution
  

• Primary goal for first 90 days is to develop SOPs, processes, and procedures from scratch to define the structure of field management in the company.
• Lead end-to-end field deployment lifecycle, including planning, installation, commissioning, and closeout
• Ensure seamless integration of systems across mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) environments
• Review technical specifications, drawings, and project documentation to validate execution plans
• Conduct site visits to monitor progress, identify risks, and implement corrective actions

Technical Leadership

• Provide subject matter expertise across HVAC, hydronics, plumbing, and building automation systems
• Troubleshoot complex field issues and support resolution strategies
• Oversee system testing, commissioning processes, and performance validation
• Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and project requirements

Team & Stakeholder Management

• Lead and mentor field teams, subcontractors, and technicians
• Coordinate with clients, contractors, and consultants to ensure alignment and successful delivery
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining high standards of execution
• Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement

Process Improvement & Strategy

• Develop and implement SOPs, QA/QC processes, and installation standards
• Identify operational gaps and drive process optimization initiatives
• Support strategic planning for team structure and future growth
• Contribute to enhancing overall field operations performance and scalability

• Building and leading a high-performing field operations team
• Driving continuous improvement across deployment and commissioning practice

  
Compensation
Annual salary (will be determine by experience level)  Plus 10% bonus;  Offering a benefits package, 3 weeks of PTO, and standard holidays off, as well as creating a 401K plan shortly.  The candidate should reside in the South Florida area.
