A well-established nonprofit in South Florida provides comprehensive support services the community, with a mission centered on expanding independence, inclusion, and quality of life for individuals with disabilities and other life challenges. The organization delivers a mix of programs and education services, operating across multiple sites. They are currently seeking an Accounting Manager to oversee day-to-day accounting operations, ensure accurate financial reporting, and support ongoing process improvements in a mission-driven environment.
The Accounting Manager works closely with the Director of Finance to support day-to-day Finance Department operations and the effective use of organizational funds. This role ensures timely and accurate financial reporting, supports audits, and leads the team in maintaining strong internal controls and sound accounting practices.
Responsibilities
Partner with the Finance team to support the agency and staff across all areas of fiscal administration
Manage timely processing of grant receivables; coordinate with Accountants to track and analyze grant spending
Ensure journal entries are prepared and recorded on time to support monthly financial statement completion
Manage accounts receivable processing and revenue recognition; support cash flow projections with the Director of Finance
Support Accountants with budget modifications to maximize grant reimbursement and funding outcomes
Review and post daily accounting entries, as needed
Support the month-end close and prepare account reconciliations, as assigned
Maintain general ledger integrity and oversee grant-related payroll distributions
Reconcile the general ledger monthly to all grants and agency contracts
Support Senior Accountants with month-end and year-end close activities, including balance sheet account analysis
Prepare audit schedules and organize documentation for audits and monitoring reviews
Maintain professional relationships with vendors, contractors, and external agencies
Maintain confidentiality of all information and protect sensitive documents and checks
Meet department and agency deadlines, including month-end and year-end timelines
Work a flexible schedule during peak close periods, as required
Perform other related duties to support efficient finance operations and overall agency needs
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Accounting; CPA preferred
5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including supervisory experience
Nonprofit accounting experience preferred
Experience managing federal, state, or foundation grants preferred
Experience with nonprofit ERP systems
