Senior Project Accountant

Location: Orlando, FL (Must be able to travel throughout the Central and West Florida region)
Work Arrangement: On-site 
Schedule: Full-time | Monday to Friday
Salary: Competitive, based on experience

Position Overview
We are seeking a Senior Project Accountant to oversee the financial performance of assigned construction projects, ensuring accurate cost tracking, revenue recognition, and financial reporting. This role partners closely with project managers and cross-functional teams to support operational efficiency, maintain financial accuracy, and contribute to overall project profitability.

Core Responsibilities

• Monitor project costs, analyze spending trends, and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and margins
• Support budgeting and forecasting processes, including developing project-level financial projections and scenario analyses
• Perform detailed variance analysis, identifying key drivers and recommending corrective actions
• Prepare and present financial reports on a monthly, quarterly, and ad-hoc basis to support decision-making
• Oversee inventory-related activities, including reconciliation and valuation accuracy
• Maintain and enhance cost accounting systems, tools, and processes
• Ensure compliance with internal financial policies, procedures, and contractual requirements
• Collaborate with project managers, procurement, and operations teams to ensure financial alignment and resolve discrepancies

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline
• 6+ years of progressive accounting experience within project-based environments in construction or engineering is required. 
• Experience with Work-in-Progress (WIP) reporting and cost-to-complete analysis
• Strong understanding of job cost accounting and percentage-of-completion (POC) revenue recognition methodologies
• Experience working with ERP systems (e.g., Sage or similar platforms)
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including data analysis and financial modeling
• CPA certification or progress toward certification is considered a plus
• Knowledge of AIA billing processes and construction contract structures
• Strong analytical mindset with the ability to interpret complex financial data
• High attention to detail and accuracy
