Mechanical Estimator

Description
 
We are partnering with an established construction organization to identify a Mechanical Estimator to support large-scale commercial projects. This role focuses on preconstruction and cost estimating for mechanical systems, working closely with internal teams to develop accurate and competitive bids. The position offers flexibility to work in a hybrid environment while remaining connected to a Miami-based team.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Lead the mechanical estimating process for commercial construction projects, overseeing cost development for HVAC, piping, and plumbing systems
• Drive scope review and estimate strategy through detailed analysis of drawings, specifications, and contract documents
• Direct and validate quantity takeoffs, labor calculations, and material pricing to ensure accuracy and completeness
• Manage and coordinate vendor and subcontractor pricing, including bid solicitation, comparison, and scope alignment
• Identify and lead value engineering initiatives, recommending cost-effective alternatives while maintaining performance and quality
• Support bid strategy and final pricing decisions, working closely with leadership and preconstruction teams
• Serve as a key point of contact between estimating, operations, and project stakeholders to ensure alignment
• Lead continuous improvement efforts within the estimating function, contributing to process optimization and best practices
• Provide guidance and technical oversight to junior or mid-level estimators as needed

Requirements

• Strong background in mechanical estimating for large, complex construction projects
• Solid expertise in HVAC, piping, plumbing, and mechanical systems, including applicable codes and standards
• Proficiency with estimating software and advanced Excel and analytical skills
• Ability to clearly present and explain cost data to leadership and project stakeholders
• Proven experience leading estimating efforts and providing technical guidance to other estimators
• Strong skills in vendor coordination, pricing evaluation, and negotiation
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field
